Steven Rishard (Barry Bloom)
Steven is a multidisciplinary artist specializing in performance and visual art.

As performer, he has spent over 20 years as a professional actor working in stage, television and film.  While he was born in the cultural rich city of New Orleans, his creative fire was lit while attending a performing and visual arts high school in Dallas, TX.  From there a four year intensive training in the Meisner Technique while in college outside Chicago Illinois lead to an early stage career. While he was selected as an artistic apprentice with The Court Theater, he turned joined Actors Equity Association at the age of 22, and began a long working relationship with Director JoAnne Akalaitis.  After 5 years in Chicago he moved to New York City where his career grew and expanded in his 13 years there to include modern dance, television, voice over, and then visual arts.  Besides Akalaitis,  he has worked often with directors Gary Griffin, Charles Newell,  Joanna Settle, Jose Zayas, Blanka Zizka, and choreographer David Neumann.  He has also worked with international artists Chen Shi-Zheng, Lazlo Marton, and Theodore Terzopolous.

Steven is frequently engaged to assist with new play development, working frequently at the Lark Playwrights Center and New Dramatists in NYC, and PlayPenn in Philadelphia.

Currently Steven resides in Philadelphia where he is a part of the Wilma Theater HotHouse company of actors.  He was last seen at the Wilma as Joe Ryan in When the Rain Stops Falling. As a Wilma HotHouse member other Wilma productions include The Hard Problem, Antigone, Hamlet, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. At Interact Theater he played Matt in Straight White Men, and at Philadelphia Theater company he played Ben in Detroit. New York credits include Luz at La Mama, P.S. Jones and the Frozen City with Terra Nova Collective, The Bacchae for The Public Theater’s Shakespeare in the Park,  Philip Glass’sIn the Penal Colony at Classic Stage Company.   With the theater company Divison13 Productions; Act Without Words 1, at the Brooklyn Can Factory.  Cascado, and Journeys Among the Dead, at HERE.

Regional credits include Quartet at The Court Theater in conjunction with the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art,  The Rainmaker at Triad Stage, and The Beautiful Dark at Premiere Stages.
