Weathering Rough Seas Together

March 13, 2020 by Mark Andrews

WEATHERING ROUGH SEAS TOGETHER

Given growing concerns relating to the spread of COVID-19, the Coronavirus, we wanted to provide this update to you about what Azuka Theatre is doing to address the developing situation.

Today, the Azuka Theatre staff, in consultation with our board of directors, has made the difficult decision to end the run of our current production, SHIP, in the Drake Theatre on Friday, March 13. To be clear, our performances on Saturday and Sunday are canceled.

We made this decision in consideration of our artists, our audiences, and you.

In this unique moment in history, Azuka finds itself face-to-face with its mission to care for amazing people whose stories go unheard. Our actors, designers, directors, box office staff, and theatre artists, most of whom are quite literally behind-the-scenes, are those unheard, unsung, super-talented individuals without whom Azuka would not be possible.

Since people are our priority every day at Azuka, we will compensate these amazing artists even though we cannot share their talents with you.

We have already felt the economic impact of the Coronavirus on this production, particularly with our Pay What You Decide model, which depends upon grateful audience members rewarding Azuka with a gift following a great theatre experience.  We hope that, under these unique circumstances, you will consider making a gift to Azuka Theatre to help offset these financial losses.

These are challenging times for all of us.  We get strength and courage from the remarkable people who make up Azuka Theatre. That includes you.

We believe in our core that there are always better days on the horizon, and await them alongside you with anticipation and hope.

Thank you for being a part of the Azuka family.

Be well,
Kevin Glaccum, Producing Artistic Director
Maura Krause, Artistic Associate
Mark H. Andrews, Co-Founder & Marketing Director
Janelle Kauffman, Company Manager
Lucas McLean, Administrative Assistant
and the Azuka Theatre Board of Directors
