Azuka Theatre’s Second Act group brings together talented alumni of our New Pages and former Rising Writers programs. These playwrights offer distinct perspectives and imaginative approaches to storytelling, continuing to shape new work through collaboration, curiosity, and their individual artistic pursuits. The Second Act Cohort embraces the Self-Directed Project model, allowing each playwright the agency in what they want to discuss, how they want to explore, and where they want to go next.
Through quarterly gatherings and support for writer-led projects, Azuka creates space to nurture their ongoing growth—planning to develop plays, exchange ideas, and build creative partnerships. It’s a community that celebrates where these writers have been and creates space for what they’ll create next.
