The Sun Sets on SUNSET BABY (And What's on the Horizon)
It’s been almost two weeks, but we’re still thinking about the closing of Sunset Baby.
Not just the closing, of course — which wouldn’t be so bittersweet if not for the show itself, Dominique Morisseau’s radically compelling story that we felt honored to bring to life.

And...not just the show itself either — but you, the audience. We’re not just thinking about you — we are deeply thankful to you. The attendance for this show was outstanding — record-breaking, in fact — and proved the power of word of mouth, especially when Pay What You Decide means that no matter who hears about the show, the cost of a ticket does not prevent them from seeing it.

Thank you to everyone who spread the word, who told your friends and family that they needed to see this show, and to everyone who came and took a chance on the waitlist in our final week. We appreciate your enthusiasm (and of course, your patience.)
We will miss this show, its cast, the whole team, and our inspiring conversations about it with you.

However, we’re also looking ahead to what’s next. Our world premiere production of Douglas Williams’ SHIP begins in February. You can read more about it and reserve tickets here. (And be on the look out for more sneak peeks right here on the blog…)
With it also comes three new public readings from New Pages playwrights James Ijames, Val Dunn and...what do you know? Douglas Williams. (Winter’s a good time to be Doug.) You can read more about New Pages — Azuka’s collaborative writers’ group formed from our commitment to new work — and view the reading calendar here.
New Year, New Work, New Pages!
As always, we are grateful for your support and your belief in Pay What You Decide.
And though the sun has set on Sunset Baby, there are many more exciting events sailing on the horizon! We hope to see you then.
