Robert Kaplowitz (Original Music & Sound Designer)
Robert has spent the last 23 years designing sound and composing, and has been honored with an OBIE for Sustained Excellence in Sound Design and a Tony® for Fela! He’s pleased to be returning to Azuka; his last designs here were for Genne Murphy’s magical Hope Street and Other Lonely Places. A Philadelphian since 2010, he’s also designed locally for Interact, PlayPenn, The Wilma, The Arden, Lucidity Suitcase, The Lantern, Pig Iron, Elastic Theater, PTC, PL&TC and Flashpoint; further flung design credits include Lincoln Center, The National Theatre of England, The Public Theatre and Sundance. He is the grateful recipient of a 2013 Independence Grant as well as having received supported from the generous people at the Pew Foundation.
