'Tis the Season: Azuka Needs You

Dear friends of Azuka —

Azuka Theater never shies away from a challenge, whether it’s the thought-provoking work we bring to the stage or the boundary-breaking Pay What You Decide box office we started in 2016. As a member of our Azuka family we believe you enjoy facing these challenges as much as we do, so we are presenting you with one now: help us continue to make art inclusive and accessible. With your donation this year, help us make space for outcasts and underdogs, and to never allow cost to be a barrier to seeing first class theater.

We believe, that along with enjoying a challenge, you share our values. We know you want to see unique stories, and hear the voices of unusual characters. We know you expect polished design and thoughtful direction, and powerful, vulnerable performances that blow you away. We know that you see the deep need for Pay What You Decide, the first radically accessible ticketing initiative in Philadelphia. It is your generosity that allows this program to exist, and we ask you to be generous now so we can continue to grow the Azuka family ever-larger.

We need to raise $10,000 by December 31st, so we’re calling on all our supporters.

Can we count on you to help?

While Azuka has already had an amazing 2018-19 season, from a record number of Barrymore nominations (including two wins, one for Best New Play, The Gap!), to warplay being called “a superb production” (Broad Street Review), we need your help to end this year strong. Because we are committed to making art accessible for all, we are turning to you to give us the ability to kick off 2019 with a bang.

Use the link below to make your gift today! Consider joining our growing list of Sustaining Members by making your donation recurring - monthly, quarterly or yearly! Your contribution will make our day, but it’s not just for us. It’s so we can keep welcoming anyone and everyone through our doors.

We’ll leave you with our favorite audience quote from last year:

Pay What You Decide allows me to still experience art even when I'm struggling financially. It makes me feel like I have a place and am welcomed into the community. I feel like people care and that's why I keep coming back to Azuka and tell others to check it out.

Thank you for believing in Azuka and all that we do. We wish warm and bright holidays to you and all your loved ones.
